The American Nurses Association (ANA) new “Let’s Get It Done!” petition urges action by Congress on healthcare reform. While the petition does not advocate for one healthcare reform proposal over the other, it encourages people to help build momentum for meaningful reform.

We hope that NYSNA members will consider helping us make this petition a strong “viral” campaign through social media including Facebook and Twitter.

Individuals with Facebook pages can dedicate your status to the petition. The language we suggest is: “Our health care system is on life support and American patients are paying the price. Sign the “Let’s Get It Done!” petition today at www.rnaction.org/getitdone.” Those with Twitter feeds can either “retweet” ANA’s tweet on the petition or tweet: “Don’t let patient pay the price for delay. Sign the “Let’s Get it Done!” petition today at www.rnaction.org/getitdone."

Dear NAME,

As a registered nurse, I am deeply concerned about the fact that the U.S. spends more than $7,500 per person for healthcare, more than twice that of any other country, yet ranks 37th in the world in the health of its people. Universal access to healthcare is as essential to our nation’s future as public education or national defense.

As your constituent, I am asking you to co-sponsor and vote for HR676, the National Health Insurance Plan. If enacted, this plan will provide guaranteed, comprehensive, and affordable health care to everyone, regardless of income or employment status.
