Congratulations are in order for the hardworking caregivers of 1199SEIU, who just settled a contract with the League of Voluntary Hospitals with no benefit takeaways, a significant wage increase, and a fairer process for nonunion workers to organize in outpatient hospital clinics.
At the beginning of negotiations, employers were demanding big benefit takeaways. 1199 members united and stood together, picketing at hospitals across New York. They voted overwhelmingly to authorize a one-day strike at the end of July. With the hashtag #WeCareforNY, 1199 caregivers spoke out about the valuable work they do to care for all New Yorkers.
We’re proud that we stood with 1199 every step of the way. Our unity is working!
