St. Patrick’s Day Celebration of a Win at the NYS Assembly!

When word came down in February of a “Health Care Regulation Modernization Team,” a measure that could threaten our Scope of Practice and undercut quality patient care, sirens went off.

NYSNA did not miss a beat: we produced a petition in the form of individual cards to stop the proposal and members signed them by the thousands. Cards were collected in droves and nurses made calls to legislators to make our case.

The New York State Assembly was listening. Today the Budget Proposal that passed the Assembly contained no “Modernization Team” and that is a significant step in beating back this measure. It was a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and we adorned stickers in tribute to the special occasion. Photos of elements of this successful campaign: cards, signatures and calls to legislators are found below.

But let’s stay focused, moving our campaign to Protect RN Scope of Practice to the New York State Senate where we must double our efforts to to ensure they reject this measure. Patient care is at stake.
