Paid Family Leave is Here!

In 2016, Governor Cuomo signed into law our nation’s strongest and most comprehensive Paid Family Leave policy. Under this program, NYSNA members and working families across the state no longer have to choose between risking their job security and caring for their loved ones.

The Paid Family Leave policy represents a crucial step forward in the march toward workplace equality and justice.

As of January 1, 2018, most employees who work in New York State for private employers are eligible to take Paid Family Leave. If you are a public employee, your employer may choose to offer Paid Family Leave. New York’s Paid Family Leave provides job-protected, paid time off so you can be with and care for your family in times of need.
