Board Action Report
At its November 16, 2011 meeting the NYSNA board of directors:
- requested that the Delegate Assembly form a task force to examine NYSNA’s affiliation with the NFN and report the task force’s findings to the board and directed that payment of NFN dues be suspended and placed in escrow pending further investigation.
- determined that a letter be sent to ANA and NFN directing that they should not prohibit NYSNA members and designated staff from participating in representing NYSNA at meetings of their organizations and to not interfere with internal matters of NYSNA
- directed that funds be made available to the Delegate Assembly from the visibility fund line to finance approved requests subject to the discretion of the interim executive director until such time that the contracts which have expired are settled
- determined that Winifred Kennedy’s term as president shall end immediately at the adjournment of the 2012 annual meeting to bring her term of office into compliance with LMRDA requirements
- determined that elections for elective positions of NYSNA – limited to board of directors, Nominating Committee, Election Committee, delegate to ANA House of Delegates, and NYSNA Delegate Assembly – be conducted by an election company located in New York state that utilizes a process which adheres to LMRDA requirements
- directed the interim executive director to explore all reasonable means to expand information dissemination, including having updated information on the current activities of NYSNA’s councils, committees, PFGs and bargaining units on appropriate areas of NYSNA’s website, while preserving the integrity of confidential information and member privacy
