Board Action Report
At the November 14, 2012 meeting the NYSNA board of directors actions:
- Directed that a mechanism be established to organize non-union nurses that NYSNA members have been working with due to Hurricane Sandy
- Directed that non-elected members be invited to attend inter-regional meetings
- Accepted proposed amendments to the NYS staffing ratio legislation
- Approved that the Board of Directors would meet with representatives of the Council on Nursing Practice to discuss roles, strategic initiatives, and concerns
- Approved that the Executive Director be a voting member of the Educational Trust Fund and that the board of trustees would consist of five members
- Passed a resolution outlining the administration of the Disaster Relief Fund
- Approved offering the Executive Director position to Jill Furillo, RN, and that the board establish an Executive Director Contract Committee to formulate a contractual agreement to be approved by the Board of Directors and submitted to Ms. Furillo for consideration
- Approved forming a rapid response team to plan for and act in times of emergency.
- Directed that a plan be established for organizing hospitals, recruiting membership involvement, and establishing a training program for staff and shop stewards for mobilization of NYSNA's strategic initiatives
- Established two new Practice Focus Groups for home care nursing and emergency nursing
- Approved that after 120 calendar days of a ratified contract, the PAF grant account for that facility will go to a zero balance
