| Responsibilities | GENERAL DUTIES Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned. CONTRACT TITLE: Assistant Professor FLSA: Exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION Teach clinical and lecture content in Medical Surgical Nursing. Research and/or publication are expected for tenure and promotion. Other areas of responsibility include curriculum development, committee work in the department and college, and academic advisement. The qualified candidate must be able to work in either the Day or Evening Program, as needed by the Department. Queensborough's Department of Nursing, the largest supplier of registered nurses to the county of Queens, is seeking a highly qualified nurse educator to join our distinguished and dynamic faculty in this richly diverse environment. The Nursing Clinical Program is integrated into the college setting and provides a strong foundation in general education, biological sciences, and social sciences as well as nursing science. The Nursing faculty follows a curriculum that undergoes on-going assessment and revision to maintain instruction of best practice. The Nursing Department is equipped with a Virtual Hospital, and utilizes simulation throughout the curriculum. For more information see www.qcc.cuny.edu/Nursing/. |
| Qualifications Required | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and an earned Master's in Nursing, with a strong, current clinical background in medical-surgical nursing are required. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are also required. Experience in simulation, pediatric or women's health a plus. Teaching experience at the Associate or Baccalaureate level is preferred. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations is preferred. Must be in compliance with New York State and National Accrediting Agency guidelines for Nursing Faculty. |
| Additional Information | COMPENSATION Salary depends on qualifications.
