CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION Queensborough's Department of Nursing, the largest supplier of registered nurses to the county of Queens, is seeking a highly qualified nurse educator to join our distinguished and dynamic faculty in this richly diverse environment. The Nursing Clinical Program is integrated into the college setting and provides a strong foundation in general education, biological sciences, and social sciences , as well as nursing science. The Nursing faculty follows a curriculum that undergoes on-going assessment and revision to maintain instruction of best practice. DUTIES Teach clinical and lecture content in Medical Surgical Nursing. Research and/or publication are expected for tenure and promotion. Other areas of responsibility include curriculum development, committee work in the department and college, and academic advisement. The qualified candidate must be able to work in either the Day or Evening Program, as needed by the Department.
Qualifications Required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Qualifications Preferred OTHER QUALIFICATIONS New York State License as a Registered Professional Nurse and an earned Master's in Nursing with a strong, current clinical background in medical-surgical nursing are required. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are also required. Experience in simulation, pediatric or women's health a plus. Teaching experience at the Associate or Baccalaureate level is preferred. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations is preferred.

Responsibilities With a direct report to executive project management, the Project Manager will lead and coordinate research, data, and administrative activities for the New York State Medical Liability Reform and Patient Safety Model (“the NYS Model”). The NYS Model puts patient safety first and strives to reduce preventable injuries, improve doctor/patient communication, and ensure that patients receive fair and quick compensation for medical injuries, while also reducing the incidence of frivolous lawsuits and cost of insurance premiums. It is a comprehensive pilot that reforms the medical liability system. The model incorporates evidence-based interventions, including a Disclosure and Early Settlement program and a culture of patient safety at five large academic medical centers in New York City.

Responsibilities include: Manage, direct, implement and coordinate project activities and oversee work plan compliance. Serve as the primary contact for the project partners. Oversee and collaborate with the project partners to manage and support the implementation and analysis of the Disclosure and Early Settlement Program. Oversee and collaborate with the project partners to assess the program components, identify best practices, design the research model and develop options to manage and support the implementation and analysis of the Patient Safety Demonstration Program. Oversee administration and analysis of patient safety surveys. Work with the project partners to anticipate problems and to identify and tailor solutions to challenges arising from the implementation of the projects. Facilitate and support data sampling, collection, and evaluation for both programs. Develop and provide technical program research and analysis assistance to the project partners regarding planning, project requirements, reporting standards and alternate methods, and documentation. Monitor the work of the project partners to ensure deliverables are being met and the project is implemented according to schedule. Ensure compliance with time and effort reporting, contract vouchering, and any other necessary documentation or reporting. Supervise the Patient Safety Nurse in support of both programs. Supervise an Analyst in the collection, interpretation and evaluation of data for both programs. Assure timely production by all project participants with project deliverables. Other related duties as assigned. Frequent travel to New York City to meet with project partners to oversee and implement above functions.
Qualifications Required Bachelor’s Degree. Five years of professional experience in hospital risk management, nursing, public health, public administration, public policy, management or a related field, including three years of experience supervising staff.
Qualififcations Preferred Masters Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, Management, Risk Management, Law or a related field. Experience implementing relevant programs. Strong writing, verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong project management skills.

Completion of a Masters degree in nursing or a health related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Qualififcations Preferred Registered nurse with a minimum of one year experience in nurse management. Background in training and education of health care providers, Excellent organization skills and communication skills, which includes both public speaking and the preparation of written materials including coordinating training events, and preparing and delivering educational materials. Masters Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, Management, Risk Management or a related field. Experience in implementing relevant programs.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, solid budget development and management experience, and excellent oral/written communication skills will be expected, as will strong presentation and analytical skills. PC proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) also essential.
