Provide service to membership. Involved in communication, negotiation and handling grievances. Represent assigned local bargaining unit in activities related to securing a collective bargaining agreement covering all matters related to employment. Travel required. Position in metropolitan New York City. Reports to the Associate Director, Economic & General Welfare Program.

Coordinate and evaluate the organizing of groups of nurses for the primary purpose of securing recognition of NYSNA as the collective bargaining representative on all employment matters. Identify potential contacts within a community to gain support for organizing, especially larger organizing drives. Develop systems for sharing and dividing labor to avoid potential conflict and competition.
Develop new leaders and build a strong organization through action and increased strength. Develop, implement and monitor the organizing campaign. Set standards, goals, time frames and identify the “issues” of the campaign. Develop plans and guidelines for using volunteer organizers. Evaluate and assist in establishing community coalition/alliances where appropriate. APPLY
