Coordinate and evaluate the organizing of groups of nurses for the primary purpose of securing recognition of NYSNA as the collective bargaining representative on all employment matters. Identify potential contacts within a community to gain support for organizing, especially larger organizing drives. Develop systems for sharing and dividing labor to avoid potential conflict and competition.
Develop new leaders and build a strong organization through action and increased strength. Develop, implement and monitor the organizing campaign. Set standards, goals, time frames and identify the “issues” of the campaign. Develop plans and guidelines for using volunteer organizers. Evaluate and assist in establishing community coalition/alliances where appropriate. APPLY

Plan, implement, and coordinate a labor education program. Design, implement, coordinate and evaluate all educational products and services needed to support the collective bargaining goals of the association. Develop course curriculum and materials and teach courses for staff and local bargaining unit members.
Master’s Degree required. Experience in labor education; coursework in education or training preferred. Previous experience in planning, design and distribution of educational materials with adult teaching and learning skills. Familiarity with all forms of multimedia visual aids. Seeking candidates for Regional Coordinator, downstate New York area. The Regional Coordinator responds to callers, assesses potential participants, provides referrals to approved treatment programs, trains volunteer advocates who provide one-on-one mentoring, and develops and oversees peer support groups. Regional Coordinator also interfaces with employers and diverse community groups and advocates for nurses facing licensure or other consequences.
