Founded in the late 1960’s, the New York
State Nurses Association Library is a repository of
materials related to the practice of nursing and health
care in New York. Decidedly non-clinical, the Library
exists to meet the research and information needs of the
association’s programmatic activities. These include
such broad topical areas as: nursing practice, governmental
affairs, continuing education, nursing education, and
collective bargaining. Individuals with questions about the
Library’s ability to meet their specific information
needs should contact staff directly.
Our Focus
- To reflect the association in a scholarly way to the
community at large;
- Provide research facilities for staff and association
members;
- Provide information to staff and members on current
developments in the healthcare field;
- Promote scholastic interest in the nursing
profession;
- Retrieve information on health related subjects to
assist nurses in the care and welfare of patients;
- House and preserve nursing history through
maintenance of rare books and oral histories;
- Provide information to the lay public about the
nursing profession;
- Provide for a regional center for the study of
nursing;
- Assist other health sciences libraries, qualified
individuals engaged in nursing service, students of
nursing and teachers of nursing in obtaining resource
material
