Private equity firms want to take over New York patient care — and Tuesday, a bill that would let them do that is heading for a vote in the State Senate Health Committee.
The bill, S-5092, would set up five pilot projects where for-profit firms can experiment on patient care. A Duke University study found that patient deaths spike when hospitals become for-profit.
Private equity firms drove our economy off a cliff. Imagine what they’ll do if lawmakers let them take over our hospitals!
Our State Senators need to hear from us — before the committee meets at 1:00 PM, Tuesday.
Call your State Senator right now and tell them: “Don’t let out-of-state for-profit private equity firms experiment on New York patients. Put patients before profits. Vote NO on S-5092.”
Here are the Senate members of the Health Committee — be sure to leave a voicemail if no one answers!
Then e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to report your call.
We stopped the for-profit takeover once already this year. And we can stop it again.
The Senate Health Committee is meeting at 1:00 PM on Tuesday. So now is the time to call.
