Approximately 300 nurses, community members and other hospital members rallied outside of St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan on Monday, March 1 to show support for the hospital that is in danger of closing, due to severe financial troubles.
Union members from the United Federation of Teachers, DC 37, the NYC Central Labor Council and the International Longshoremans Association gave their support to the nurses. After rallying for an hour, the nurses proceeded inside the hospital to a second floor chapel where Sister of Charity Miriam Kevin Phillips spoke to the crowd, and many others provided uplifting speeches.
