NYSNA nurses at Nyack Hospital turned out today to support state Senator David Carlucci – a strong advocate for safe staffing who’s running for re-election to the New York Senate.
“We’re backing David because he supports safe staffing – and because he's always been a friend of nurses,” said Anna Marie Perkins, RN, the chair of the local bargaining unit at Nyack.
“I’ve always been a big supporter of nurses and of this hospital,” the senator told the nurses.
He spoke very movingly of the need to pass the Safe Patient Handling Bill, one of NYSNA’s legislative priorities.
Nurses are getting involved in this election like never before – making phone calls, knocking on doors, and talking to their co-workers about candidates who support safe staffing.
