New York State Nurses Association announces election results
LATHAM, October 25, 2010 - At its annual meeting held this year in Uncasville, Connecticut, the New York State Nurses Association announced election results for its board of directors. Each member will serve a two-year term. Elections were held via balloting of all 36,000-plus RN members.
- Vice President – Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez
Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez, MSN, RN, a former director at large, was elected vice president. Sheridan-Gonzalez lives in Bronx, NY, where she works as a staff nurse for Montefiore Medical Center Moses Division.
- Secretary – Mary J. Finnin
Secretary Mary J. Finnin, MS, RN, was re-elected as secretary of the board. Finnin lives in Central Islip and is retired.
- Director at Large – Anne Bové
Anne Bové, MSN, RN, BC, CCRN, ANP, has been re-elected to serve as director at large. Bove lives in Woodside, NY, and works as a staff nurse for Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan.
- Director at Large – Elizabeth Mahoney
Elizabeth Mahoney, MS, Ed, RN, returns to the board as director at large. Mahoney has previously served as treasurer and director at large. Mahoney lives in Latham, NY, and is retired.
- Director at Large – Sam Caquias
Sam Caquias, RN, will serve as director at large during his first term on the board of directors. Caquias lives in Middletown, NY, and works as a staff nurse for Westchester County Health Corporation in Valhalla, NY.
- Director at Large – Shirley Hunter
Shirley Hunter, MS, RN, will serve as director at large during her first term on the board of directors. Hunter lives in Deer Park, NY, and was a former staff nurse at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center/Home Health Agency in Manhattan.
The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 36,000 members, it is the state's largest professional association and largest union for registered nurses. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
