VALLEY STREAM, Nov. 8, 2011 – After a late-night negotiating session, registered nurses have reached a tentative agreement for a new contract at Franklin Hospital. The 250 RNs are represented by the New York State Nurses Association. Their most-recent agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2010. An informational picket, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 8, has been canceled. A ratification vote is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15. Details of the contract will be available after it is approved.
The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 37,000 members, it is New York’s largest professional association and union for registered nurses. The association represents registered nurses, and some all-professional bargaining units, in New York and New Jersey. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
