LATHAM, October 18, 2012 - The New York State Nurses Association today announced its endorsement of Senator David Carlucci (D) in the race for the 38th Senate District.
Carlucci, who supports Governor Cuomo's initiative to make Medicaid more efficient, impressed the Nurses Association with his understanding of health issues – including the need to implement safe staffing for all of New York’s hospitals.
“We look forward to David Carlucci’s advocacy for safe staffing levels for patients in every hospital across the state and for nurses who play a key role in delivering quality care,” said Nancy Kaleda, the 37,000-member union's Deputy Director.
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Nurses Association,” said Carlucci. “The association has done an excellent job in working to ensure that nurses can provide New Yorkers with quality health care. I look forward to continuing to work with NYSNA as we take on New York's health care challenges.”
The New York State Nurses Association is the voice for nursing in the Empire State. With more than 37,000 members, it is New York’s largest professional association and union for registered nurses. The association represents registered nurses, and some all-professional bargaining units, in New York and New Jersey. It supports nurses and nursing practice through education, research, legislative advocacy, and collective bargaining.
