The Virginia Nurses Association is involved in expanding the science of nurse fatigue and its impact on patient safety, and is collaborating in a research study at the Grado Dept. of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. Research indicates nurse fatigue results in slowed reaction time, lapses of attention, errors of omission, and diminished problem-solving ability.
We invite you to participate by completing a short online survey intended to measure nurses’ perceptions.
The Regional Research Consortium was formed under the leadership of Bassett Healthcare’s Department of Nursing and in collaboration with Hartwick College, SUNY IT, Utica-Rome, Syracuse University, and SUNY Binghamton’s Decker School of Nursing. They are pursuing means to facilitate collaborative academic and practice partnerships to advance the science and practice of nursing. The group is in the process of creating its mission and goals.
The Nursing Research Alliance of the Capital District Region’s mission is to bring together healthcare and academic organizations to develop a network to support nurses, nursing students and faculty in nursing research endeavors. The Council on Nursing Research and the Center for Nursing Research of the Foundation of the New York State Nurses Association have updated the collaborative New York State Nursing Research Agenda.
