Caregivers, Nurses and Community to Hold Rally to Save Brooklyn Hospitals at Governor’s NYC Office: NYSNA, 1199SEIU, and community to tell Gov. Cuomo save our hospitals!

With the closure of Interfaith Medical Center in Bed-Stuy looming in possibly only days, and a proposal before SUNY that would turn Long Island College Hospital in Cobble Hill into luxury condos, 1199SEIU and NYSNA caregivers, patients, elected leaders and concerned residents from across Brooklyn are rallying at Governor Cuomo’s midtown Manhattan office on December 19, to ask the governor to keep these vital institutions open for care until expected federal funding allows all stakeholders to work together towards a long-term solution to the borough’s healthcare crisis.

WHO: Public Advocate-elect Letitia “Tish” James, 1199SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Maria Castaneda, NYSNA Executive Director Jill Furillo, RN, elected leaders, nurses, caregivers, and    patients from across Brooklyn.

WHAT:Rally to tell Gov. Cuomo to keep our Brooklyn hospitals open for care

WHEN: 4pm – 5pm, December 19, 2013

WHERE: 633 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10017 (between 40th & 41st st)

Caregivers and nurses of 1199SEIU and NYSNA, along with hundreds of concerned residents are rallying at Governor Cuomo’s office, because we believe that closing Interfaith or LICH would be devastating to low-income communities in Brooklyn.
