What: New York Presbyterian caregivers represented by the New York State Nurses Association and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, along with advocates from the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns, will hold a press conference to call on the general public to support the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan. They will also announce their formation of Task Force Haiyan, which will be dedicated to raising funds and collecting donations forthose impacted.

Background: This past Friday, Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines. The death toll has now reached 10,000, and communication has been limited as family members struggle to find each other in aftermath of the storm. Many survivors lack access to food, shelter, clean water, or medical care. NYSNA and 1199SEIU nurses are working with advocates to do all they can for the victims, and encourage the general public to do the same.
