NEW YORK NURSE: October/November 2007
by Mark Genovese
Individual health coverage for the 17 RNs at this North Country facility will now be paid in full by the employer under a new three-year contract approved in September. The contract also calls for increased employer contributions for two-person and family health coverage. Salaries for the RNs will increase by 4% each year. Longevity bonuses will also increase.
The 44 RNs in this Finger Lakes county bargaining unit will receive annual salary increases of 3% under a new three-year contract approved in October. The contract gives RNs two options for reimbursement of work-related cell phone charges. It also resolves a problem that resulted from the county’s 2004 change of a long-standing practice for increasing vacation time by clarifying the standard for determining eligibility.
