NEW YORK NURSE: July/August 2008
The summer is flying by, and that means it’s time to register for the biggest event of the fall. The 2008 NYSNA Annual Business Meeting will take place from Thursday, Sept. 25 to Saturday, Sept. 27, and all association members are encouraged to attend.
The gathering will happen at the Hilton Rye Town in Rye Brook, N.Y., a full-service business hotel in a relaxed, landscaped setting. A block of rooms has been reserved at a special meeting rate, which will be available only until Aug. 30 or whenever the group block is sold out. To receive the rate, you must register through the business meeting link on www.nysna.org.
Thursday evening will feature a complimentary reception for Congress of Bargaining Unit members who will be attending the Congress meeting on Friday morning. NYSNA’s traditional “Labor Day” event will include the business meetings and the annual Delegate Assembly brunch.
Events for all members will get underway Friday afternoon, beginning with an informative talk on the tragedy of human trafficking. On Saturday, NYSNA’s five new Practice Focus Groups (PFGs) will meet for the first time. Each group will meet separately to elect executive committee members and to network with other nurses who share similar clinical concerns. A luncheon on Saturday will include a presentation by Jackie Pflug, powerful motivational speaker and plane hijacking survivor. The business meeting will culminate with the NYSNA Voting Body session, which will include a vote on bylaws proposals (below).
All of the business meeting information you need, including event and hotel registration, is available at www.nysna.org/convention/main_intro.htm. If you have questions, contact the Meeting and Convention Planning department at 800.724.NYRN (6976), ext. 303.
