NEW YORK NURSE: July/August 2009
Unite with nurses nationwide as NYSNA hosts the first annual National Legislative Conference for nurses, Nov. 9-11, at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, Orlando, Fla.
The theme of the conference, “Finding Our Voice: Legislative Advocacy for Nurses,” will be explored in up-to-the-minute sessions designed to help you effectively reach out to your legislators about issues that affect nursing care. Keynote speaker Suzanne Gordon, nationally recognized author on nursing and popular healthcare lecturer, will put you in the right frame of mind to consider how you can impact crucial nursing legislation.
Hear from industry leaders on the frontlines of nursing advocacy and share your experiences with nurses from across the country. Discover how they are navigating issues in their workplace and what their state is doing to promote healthcare reform. Learn the key points of connecting with legislators and question panel experts from the field in sessions such as “Protecting Patients Through Legislative Advocacy,” “Environmental Health: The Legislative Landscape,” “Staffing is the Issue, Information is the Key,” and “Nurses’ Rights as Employees: Labor Law Update.” Continuing education hours will be awarded.
Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is a Disney Deluxe Resort that captures the charm, whimsy, and elegance of 1940s Atlantic City. After sessions, relax poolside or catch up with friends on the lively boardwalk just outside your room. The fee for the conference is $375 and members can take advantage of a special rate of $159 per night for hotel accommodations.
