National Federation of Nurses

An innovative approach to a national nurses’ union

The New York State Nurses Association has joined six other states to form the National Federation of Nurses (NFN). The “NFN” acronym also is intended to convey the message, “Nurses For Nurses.”

The new national union represents more than 70,000 nurses in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, and Washington State. The NFN stresses the autonomy of each member organization. Membership is open to state nurses associations as well as to other labor organizations that represent RNs.
