NEW YORK NURSE: January/February 2010

Nominating schedule for 2010 NYSNA association-wide election

Deadline to self-declare is March 26

The following deadlines and requirements are for the association-wide election in 2010. Members will elect a vice president, secretary, directors at large, and Nominating Committee.

In late February or early March, the Nominating Committee will notify those who submitted a nomination form whether they were selected for inclusion on the slate. Members not selected, as well as any other members, have until March 26 to self-declare.

Those who wish to self-declare must send a letter stating their intent to self-declare and a completed nomination form to NYSNA on or before March 26. The nomination form was published in the December 2009 issue of New York Nurse and is available in the Members Only area of the NYSNA website (members.nysna.org).

If a form is not available, include the following in a letter of intent to self-declare; office sought; basic nursing education and highest degree held; current and past employment; the last five years of professional activities, including offices held on the community, district, state, and national levels; and an 80-word statement identifying key issues and your positions on those issues.

A statement of intent to self-declare and the required information must be postmarked, faxed, or submitted electronically to the office of the chief executive officer on or before March 26.
NYSNA will not accept late submissions.

The names of all candidates for the 2010 association-wide offices will be published in the May issue of New York Nurse. Candidates’ biographies and position statements will be included in the May issue of New York Nurse. Biographies will also be available in the Members Only area of the NYSNA website (members.nysna.org) and on the web polls in August, for reference by members who choose to vote electronically. The ballot will be mailed in August and the web polls will open at the same time.
