NYSNA’s president welcomes new grads into the profession

NYSNA President Karen Ballard was the commencement speaker at the Class of 2011 graduation exercises for the Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing in early June, where 84 students received associate degrees in applied science.

In her address, Ballard reminded them, “...remember that you are never not a nurse. Nursing is the finest of the fine arts. Experience and enjoy it—never forget what made you go into nursing.” The happy occasion was marked with a little sorrow, as Dean Janet Mackin and members of the faculty and staff bid a fond farewell to Associate Dean Marilyn Parker, who is leaving after 19 years of dedicated service to the school.
