NEW YORK NURSE: August 2012
HHC nurses are the voice for patient care in the Big Apple’s municipal hospitals.
Hundreds of HHC nurses took their case for safe staffing to the streets on June 20.
In a coordinated effort, they filed safe staffing grievances in many HHC hospitals to demand the best care for their patients.
Outside the hospitals, they distributed fliers to community members and patients’ families about the situation.
Their effort was strengthened by a two-week, NYSNA-coordinated media buy, including TV, radio and newspaper ads throughout NYC.
The 8,000 HHC nurses continue their fight for a fair contract from the Bloomberg administration, whose tactics have driven negotiations to an impasse.
