Guidelines for Guest Articles in “New York Nurse”

Guest articles in New York Nurse are defined as articles written by individuals who are not NYSNA Communications Department staff.

The following guidelines apply to all guest articles that are submitted for publication in New York Nurse:

• Topics must be of interest to our readership: Registered nurses in New York and New Jersey.
• When opinions are expressed, political or otherwise, they must be consistent with the positions and policies of the NYSNA and its Board of Directors.
• Information must be factual and thoroughly researched.
• Articles must be typewritten or computer-generated. Unless specifically authorized, articles should be no more than 300 words in length. If possible, articles should be provided on computer disk or by e-mail.
• Articles should be original work, not published elsewhere. Authors are responsible for requesting and obtaining any permission needed for use of any copyrighted materials.

Guest articles are subject to editing by the NYSNA Communications Department staff, both for length and content. Final determination of material to be published in New York Nurse is made by the NYSNA Executive Director. Whenever possible, edited copy will be sent to the author for review prior to publication.

At times, it may be necessary to change the publication date of an article due to breaking news. When this occurs, the author will be notified of the change and of the new schedule for publication of the article.
