Stigma, guilt and fear, combined with an addiction's physical toll, present special needs for nurses. Resources exist to supplement treatment for nurses as they struggle with early and intermediate recovery. Employee Assistance Programs

EAP (if available) provides confidential assistance in early identification of impaired nursing practice, as well as monitoring return to work provisions for nurses re-entering practice.
