Safe Patient Handling and Movement (SPHM): A policy and practice that creates a safe environment for patients and healthcare workers by eliminating hazardous manual lifting tasks. Transferring and repositioning patients is accomplished by using new techniques in mechanical lifts and repositioning devices.

Participants can earn up to 8.75 contact hours (CH) for the Safe Patient Handling Conference. The New York State Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
