WMC RNs and caregivers respond heroically to tragic accident

I want to take a moment to recognize the heroic response of Westchester Medical Center RNs and all caregivers to the tragic train accident and fire on the Metro North railroad.

When WMC got news of the accident, nurses from every unit rushed to the ER to help. Fifteen commuters, many of them severely injured, soon arrived at the hospital.

There is no question that WMC's heroes saved lives that night. All New Yorkers thank them.

WMC RNs have tremendous experience and knowledge in responding to emergency situations. WMC has the only burn unit in New York State between NYC and Montreal.

All of us are saddened by this tragic accident. And all of us are thankful for the heroism and skill of the WMC caregivers.

In solidarity,
Jill Furillo, RN
