Nurses know that ICU safe staffing can’t wait!

The NYS Department of Health (DOH) was supposed to enact an ICU safe staffing regulation back in January, 2022 as part of NYSNA’s safe staffing legislative victory in 2021, but they are still dragging their feet.

One nurse should care for a maximum of two patients in the ICU—that is the safe standard that is recognized in peer-reviewed journals and in the recently-submitted hospital staffing committee reports.

Nurses and other healthcare professionals know that every second counts, especially in the intensive care unit. Enough is enough… Take Action TODAY! New York’s healthcare heroes and their patients deserve safe patient ratios. Send a clear message to NYS DOH leadership that we need safe staffing regulations NOW!
