Nursing Education & Practice Specialist (2 Per Diem Positions Available)
POSITION SUMMARY: This position will report to the Associate Director of Nursing Education & Practice. Responsible for applying adult learning principles in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating nursing professional development programs to meet identified knowledge gaps and learning needs. Responsible for addressing nursing practice issues impacting members in their workplaces and within the profession and seizing opportunities for advancing the Association’s programs and policies. This position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liaison to Local Bargaining Unit members, to support educational activities and practice issues.
- Work with NEP lead nurse planners to develop and implement educational programs and maintain appropriate records for accreditation.
- Identify needs and propose educational opportunities for members and conduct continuing nursing educational conferences and workshops as appropriate.
- Participate in the development of written and electronic materials and other communications to the membership and other groups to inform about practice issues and promote educational activities.
- Maintain a working knowledge of and support Association programs and activities and their interrelationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
- Master's degree in nursing education or related field preferred.
- Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in NYS.
- A minimum of 3 years’ clinical nursing experience, critical care nursing or multiple nursing specialties preferred.
- Strong analytical and communication skills are critical.
- Experience in developing and presenting educational programs is helpful.
- NYSNA membership is preferred.
- NPD certification is preferred.
- AHA – BLS, ACLS certification required. PALS preferred.
