New York City Private Sector Nurses Deliver 10-Day Strike Notice

NYSNA nurses are not backing down! On Friday, Jan. 2, NYSNA nurses rang in the new year and continued their calls for a fair contract by delivering 10-day strike notices at hospitals across the city. If management does not agree to a fair contract that protects safe patient care and healthcare benefits for frontline nurses, thousands of NYSNA nurses could go on strike, which would be the largest nurse strike in New York City history. NYSNA nurses have been negotiating around the clock, with dates at many hospitals taking place over the weekend. Striking is always a last resort, and we are committed to reaching a fair deal before then, but we need employers to take real action to protect safe patient care for New Yorkers. The media has covered our negotiations widely; check out some of our coverage on New York Daily News, News 12, The Chief, 1010 WINS, PIX11, Harlem World and News12 Bronx.

Northwell Long Island Nurses Deliver 10-Day Strike Notice

NYSNA nurses at Northwell/Huntington, Northwell/Plainview and Northwell/Syosset hospitals delivered strike notices showing their strength, courage and determination! The three Long Island hospitals are bargaining against the state’s largest employer and are more united than ever. On Jan. 2, they delivered notice, giving their employers 10 days to settle a fair contract that protects safe patient care and health coverage for the nurses who care for Long Island. They will continue to bargain through the next 10 days. However, if management does not agree to a fair contract, nurses could go on strike. Long Island and New York City nurses are united and ready to do whatever it takes to protect patient care!

NBC 4, News12 and Long Island Press have covered negotiations. To learn more about Northwell’s greed, visit our Northwealth site. Read our press release here.

Nurses from Samaritan Medical Center Go Caroling in Support of a Fair Contract

Samaritan Contract Caroling

Last week, NYSNA nurses at Samaritan Hospital went contract caroling to demand that management settle a fair contract that includes safe staffing ratios, affordable healthcare benefits, and a real plan to recruit and retain nurses. They’ve been bargaining for months and have seen little progress. However, they remain committed to a contract that nurses and patients deserve. Check out more photos here.
