NYSNA Update: June 5, 2026
Another Victory for Safe Staffing at The Brooklyn Hospital Center
Last week, cardiac telemetry unit nurses at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) won additional staffing, thanks to the strong staffing language that TBHC nurses won in their latest contract campaign! TBHC must now hire an additional 10 full-time nurses for the cardiac telemetry roster, a 45% increase in staffing that will allow the unit to be staffed at the levels members fought for and are entitled to. This staffing victory comes after intensive care unit nurses at TBHC won additional staffing last week. Congratulations, TBHC nurses — this victory was only made possible by your hard work, advocacy and persistence!
Northwell/Putnam Hospital Nurses Organize Sticker Action for Fair Contract
Last week, NYSNA nurses at Northwell Health/Putnam Hospital took action to demand a fair contract that ensures safe, quality care for their community. This is the first contract renewal that Putnam nurses have been bargaining for since Northwell Health acquired the hospital. Safe staffing language has proven to be a sticking point in bargaining, as it has been at several other Northwell facilities. To show Northwell management how serious nurses are about safe staffing, Putnam nurses organized a sticker action to send the message to management: Have a Heart, Staff Smart! Keep up the great work, Putnam nurses!
