Vassar Brothers Medical Center Nurses Ratify New Contract

On Feb. 6, 2025, nurses won and ratified a new three-year contract that helps to recruit and retain qualified nurses, secure safe staffing and keep local services open for care. When nurses began bargaining in September, they committed themselves to winning a strong contract before their contract expired on Jan. 31.
As the expiration date approached, Vassar nurses showed their union power and marched on the boss in December. They delivered a poster to the chief nursing officer featuring photos of over 300 NYSNA nurses who are in solidarity with the bargaining committee and called on management to deliver a fair contract on time.
Thanks to Vassar nurses' organizing efforts, a tentative agreement was reached just before their contract expired! They won significant improvements, including respectful wage increases that reflect the work NYSNA nurses do to provide excellent care to their patients. Nurses were eager to vote and hundreds showed up despite a snowstorm! Over 99% of nurses voted yes to the new contract! Congratulations, Vassar Brothers Medical Center nurses!
