NYSNA NURSES AT HEALTH ALLIANCE HOSPITAL RENEW CALL FOR WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PROTECTIONS AFTER HOSPITAL LOCKDOWN

Nurses are speaking out to demand a fair contract that ensures safe staffing, workplace safety measures, and benefits to recruit and retain nurses.

Kingston, N.Y.– On Wednesday, March 11, nurses will hold a press conference to discuss the vital need for protection from workplace violence after a violent incident led to a hospital-wide lockdown at Westchester Medical Center’s HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston, NY. Nurses, whose contract expired on Dec. 31, have been bargaining for months and demanding a contract that ensures enforceable safe staffing standards, protections against workplace violence, and wages and benefits that help recruit and retain nurses. While workplace violence protections have been at the forefront of their demands, hospital management has refused to address their safety concerns.

WHO: New York State Nurses Association nurses

WHAT: Press Conference to Demand Safety

WHEN: Wednesday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Rear of WMC-HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus, 420 Broadway Kingston, NY 12401

NYSNA nurses have been demanding safety protections as part of their call for fair contracts for months. Despite multiple recent incidents, WMC-HealthAlliance Hospital continues to refuse to take proper safety measures to protect patients, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
