BRONX NURSES SOUND ALARM ON MONTEFIORE REPLACING REAL NURSES WITH AI
Montefiore Plans to Lay Off Real Nurses and Replace Them With AI—Impacted NYSNA Nurses Host Virtual Town Hall
AI Makes Inroads in Healthcare, Threatening Patient Care and Jobs
Layoff Plan Will Give Over Private Patient Records to Palantir-Connected Company
Bronx, NY -- Montefiore is planning to lay off real nurses and replace them with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered software. These are nurses who use their decades of bedside experience and clinical judgement to review insurance denials and ensure patients get the care they need covered by insurance.
Replacing real nurses with AI is terrible for workers and the economy in the Bronx. It could also have negative consequences for patients in the Bronx. NYSNA nurses are hosting a virtual town hall with directly impacted nurses to discuss Montefiore’s plan, its negative impact on jobs and patient care in the Bronx, and how healthcare practitioners and communities can fight back against untested AI in their hospitals.
WHO: NYSNA nurses, community members and elected officials, including New York City Council Labor Chair Shirley Aldebol.
WHAT: Virtual Town Hall and Press Conference: The Bronx Needs Real Nurses, Not AI!
WHEN: Wednesday, July 1 from 12-1 p.m.
