Program Representative (based in Syracuse)

The New York State Nurses Association is a labor organization of over 40,000 frontline nurses standing together for strength at work, nursing practice, safe staffing, and healthcare for all. We are New York's largest union and professional association for registered nurses.

This position will report to the Area Director. Program Representatives are responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Association’s member representation and mobilization program in their assigned Syracuse geographic area and/or facilities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Association and the member representation/mobilization program to local bargaining unit members, employers, and other groups.
  • Review and analyze developments and trends in the delivery of health care, nursing practice, and labor relations pertinent to the member representation and mobilization program and make recommendations to their Area Director.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Association programs and activities and their interrelationships.

Communications Coordinator (Upstate)

The New York State Nurses Association, a union of 43,000 front line nurses is seeking a full-time Communications Coordinator to work with nurses to develop and coordinate campaigns around contracts, contract enforcement, new organizing, and for social justice issues as part of the union's strategy to build power, fight for safe patient care, and win quality healthcare for all. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to elicit and write stories for union publications and social media, coordinate with members on the ground, and direct press towards relevant and accurate reportage. Program Representatives

Program Representatives are responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Association’s member representation and mobilization program in their assigned downstate geographic area and/or facilities. Please Note: This Job Posting is for three (3) Program Representative Positions. The initial team assignments are expected to be one of the following: NY Presbyterian, Mt. Program Representative (Upstate/North Country)

The Program Representative reports to the Area Director and is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Association’s member representation and mobilization program in their assigned Albany/North Country geographic area and/or facilities. Press Secretary (NYC based)

Seeking a talented, experienced, and highly motivated communicator with strong writing skills and the ability to establish a strong rapport with the press. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for cultivating a positive image of NYSNA in the press, ensuring that the objectives and achievements of NYSNA are communicated efficiently and effectively to earned media outlets and the public. The individual needs to simplify complex issues to convey the union’s objectives and achievements utilizing print, digital, and social media. Staffing Implementation Coordinator (NYC Area)

The Staffing Implementation Coordinator is a leadership position reporting to NYSNA’s Field Director. The two will work closely together to implement the new NYS-mandated staffing process as expressed in NYS AB108b/SB1168 (“Staffing Law”). The Coordinator will work across different hospital systems and geographic areas while interacting with Field, Political, Labor Education, and Nursing Education and Practice staff. The Coordinator will help oversee the Union’s overall Staffing Law program, develop and lead train-the-trainer programs on how to succeed on NYSNA’s staffing priorities in an interest-based bargaining/consensus decision- making environment, develop and oversee Staffing Law implementation checkpoints, goals, and metrics, and coordinate NYSNA’s overall Staffing Law enforcement program.
