Grassroots Action for Healthcare Justice
“Of all forms of discrimination and inequalities,” Dr. King said in 1966, “injustice in health is the most shocking and inhuman because it often results in physical death.”
It is a vital social justice and civil rights priority that we achieve healthcare justice:
- Equity-the Safe Staffing for Quality Care Act;
- Universal access to high quality care; and
- Climate justice-working with patient communities on environmental solutions to the social determinants of poor health.
NYSNA’s Political & Community Organizing team is creating opportunities for members to get involved in political action: be it through rallies at hospitals and elected officials’ offices to protect and strengthen the Affordable Care Act and expand funding for public hospitals; or through phone banking and canvassing to impact elections and policies.
NYSNA members are taking the lead in our political actions, and the fruits of those actions are showing up in our hospitals and communities.
