TODAY: SUNY Trustees May Vote to Turn Long Island College Hospital into Condos

 

 

(New York, NY) Today at 2pm, SUNY Trustees are convening a meeting where they will discuss the fate of Long Island College Hospital. SUNY  told the New York Times that Trustees are planning to vote on whether to consider a proposal to turn LICH into condos - with just an urgent care center and possibly a gym in its place. 

 

What: LICH Patients, nurses, caregivers, community members to attend SUNY Trustee Meeting to make sure that community voices are heard. Ten SUNY Trustees may be deciding the fate of a hospital today that medically-underserved Red Hook residents depend on for care and for which 18,000 people have signed petitions to save as a full-service facility. Holiday-themed rally after meeting.

 

Where: SUNY College of Optometry at 33 West 42nd Street in Manhattan (the same location where mayor-elect Bill de Blasio was arrested over the summer to keep LICH open for care). The meeting will take place in room 222.

 

When: Today, 2pm, SUNY Trustees Meeting begins, LICH on the agenda for 2:50pm. Rally outside after meeting adjourns where we’ll unveil our #SaveLICH petition signatures.
