NEW YORK STATE NURSES ASSOCIATION REACH AGREEMENT WITH PUTNAM HOSPITAL CENTER ON FIRST CONTRACT FOR REGISTERED NURSES
The Agreement Ensures Safe Staffing to Deliver Highest Standard of Care to All Patients
The Contract Provides Full- & Part-Time Registered Nurses Access to Free, Quality Healthcare
CARMEL, NY – The New York State Nurses Association today announced they have reached their first contract for the registered nurses at Putnam Hospital Center. The contract, which was overwhelmingly ratified by the NYSNA nurses, benefits all patients, nurses and the Putnam Valley community.
The agreement provides a process to ensure patients are receiving the quality care they need and deserve. Additionally, the contract provides full-time and part-time registered nurses access to free, quality healthcare. Registered nurses at Putnam Hospital Center received a 3 percent raise upon ratification and will receive an additional 4 percent each remaining year of the contract.
“The nurses at Putnam Hospital Center are on the frontlines every day delivering life-saving care to patients in need,” said Linda Lipiro, RN, PACU. “This contract is a win-win for the local community and all the registered nurses of Putnam Hospital Center who fought to make their voices heard for quality patient care. By providing safe staffing for our patients and recognizing the contributions of Putnam Hospital nurses, this first contract is a strong step forward to ensure access to high-quality care for the Hudson Valley community.”
Nurses at the Putnam Hospital Center voted by an overwhelming majority to join NYSNA in December 2017. Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel is part of the Health Quest network of hospitals, which includes Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY, and Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Approximately 800 nurses at Vassar Brothers Medical Center are represented by NYSNA.
