NYSNA Endorses in NYC Mayoral Race

NYSNA is proud to announce our ranked-choice endorsement of Maya Wiley and Eric Adams for Mayor of the City of New York.

Maya for Mayor has a platform consistent with our values, including unbridled support for public health facilities and safety net hospitals, and ultimately transforming the health care system into one that provides quality health care for all, with appropriate numbers of caregivers.

Eric Adams is a lifelong public servant and has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to his community. As Brooklyn Borough President, he has stood with organized labor and has demonstrated a commitment to improving the public’s health. His vision for the city focuses on addressing structural inequalities like closing racial health gaps, supporting green infrastructure, and providing enhanced funding for public housing.

In a statement, NYSNA President Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez, RN said, “Both Maya Wiley and Eric Adams have been outspoken advocates around issues related to the social determinants of health: housing, education, jobs, gun violence, environmental justice and the critical need to invest in our communities and address institutionalized racism and all of the overarching inequities that grow out of the system.”
