In New Zealand, registered nurses earned a new contract after a single day of striking. The new contract will nurses receive a one-off payment of $2,000 with 3% yearly pay increases which will see their salaries increase by 12.5% by August 2019.  In addition, measures will be introduced to ensure adequate safe staffing conditions.

NYSNA congratulates these nurses in earning a contract they deserve. All nurses worldwide share a common commitment to wanting to improve conditions for their patients and the New Zealand nurses have done exactly that. This is a well-deserved victory.
